PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe and ZRK DOM Poznań, a subsidiary of PKP Group, signed a contract for the continuation of modernization works on the Lower Silesia – Leszno rail section, part of E59 Wrocław – Poznań mainline. The value of the work is PLN 45 million (EUR 10.4 million) and is expected to be completed at the end of 2018.
ZRK DOM Poznań will continue the construction works interrupted by Astaldi, as PKP PLK has terminated the contract because, “despite calls”, did not perform the needed construction works.
The works which are to be performed by ZRK include laying new tracks, assembly of the traction network and engineering facilities between the border of the Lower Silesia Voivodship and Rawicz and between Bojanow and Leszno. The contractor’s staff and specialist equipment will be used, including piling, cranes, two-way excavators, welding machines, track tamping machines.
The project is part of the project on the “Modernization of the E 59 railway line on the Wrocław – Poznań section, Stage IV, Czempiń – Poznań section of the Lower Silesian Voivodship – Czempiń.” It is carried out under the Connecting Europe Facility financing, that was awarded in 2014 with a EUR 226.5 million EU financing and has total costs of EUR 295 million. The entire project is expected to be completed at the end of 2020.
