Russia’s largest dedicated coal port, Vostochny Port, run by Port Management Company, announced that it has started building the Novy railway park. The construction of the Novy park is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2019.
The park is intended for accepting trains loaded with coal and bound for Vostochny Port. It will have 12 non-public railway lines able to accommodate trains of 71 cars each. The total length of the lines will be 19 km. From the Novy park the trains will proceed to the dedicated coal terminal of Vostochny Port.
The non-public Novy park will be built as part of Vostochny Port’s Phase 3. The construction is part of the project of reconstruction and development of Nakhodka Vostochnaya, the largest railway station in the Far East.
The project is being implemented through a private-public partnership, with the technical specification prepared by RZD and financing provided by Port Management Company and Vostochny Port. No state budget resources will be involved. Total investments into the Novy park are estimated at RUB 2.8 billion (EUR 39.5 million).
