Société du Grand Paris awarded to a consortium led by NGE with Cimolai, the construction contract for the elevated section of Grand Paris Express line 17.
EUR 328 million is the value of the contract of which EUR 206 million is NGE’s share.
The consortium will construct a 5 km of elevated section with a 3 km-long metal viaduct which will be served by the elevated station Parc des Expositions next to the Villepinte Exhibition Centre.
The contract includes the construction of 3 viaducts. A 3 km long metal viaduct as well as two road overpasses over the A1/A3 motorways (200 metres long) and the RD40 South road (145 metres long, curved) with very precise phasing requirements due to the interruption of road traffic at night. Four structures in the embankment areas, 100 metres to 1 km long, will be built.
Under the project, NGE’s Multi-disciplinary services will be responsible for several works. NGE Génie will be the main contractor and will provide civil engineering while Guintoli will be responsible for the landscaping, for which environmentally responsible operating methods have been selected. All the 70,000m³ of fertile soil excavated will be stored and then reused, according to a complex and strict process that will differ depending on the type of area (grassland, woodland, etc.). Guintoli will use plants with the Végétal Local label, purchased from local producers and therefore better adapted to this environment.
NGE Bâtiment will coordinate the construction of the elevated metro station Parc des Expositions and will oversee the many secondary contractors and technical trades involved in this type of construction. This station is unique in that it has an all-metal frame designed by the architectural firm Dietmar Feichtinger Architectes. NGE Bâtiment will also be responsible for construction of the 5 km elevated metro section between the cities of Gonesse and Tremblay-en-France, located north of Paris.
NGE is present on 18 Grand Paris Express packages, including Line 15-South, the civil works on Line 14, Line 11 and Line 16 with the latter including rail equipment for lot 1, 2 and 3.
Cimolai is the co-contrator and will oversee the metal structures.
The work is to start this month and it is expected to be completed in 2029.
The elevated section is located in the central part of the line and contributes to strengthening the transport offer in major economics hubs in the north of Paris such as “Le Pleyel”, Villepinte Exhibition Centre, Le Bourget airport and Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle international airport.
The 26.5 km Grand Paris Express line 17 which will be served by 9 stations will connect Saint-Denis-Pleyel and Le Mesnil-Amelot in less than 25 minutes, providing direct metro access to nearly 565,000 inhabitants.
