Sydney Metro West project will receive USD 2.2 billion under the New South Wales 2018-2019 budget. The funding will allow Sydney Metro to start designing new metro railway stations and precincts to get the best outcomes for customers and communities and the planning approvals process.
In the 2018 budget, USD 20.85 million will be invested to complete the final business case.
Work has already started to determine the best underground route with a programme of geotechnical drilling, which will continue.
Sydney Metro West will link the Sydney CBD with Parramatta and Westmead via The Bays Precinct and Sydney Olympic Park, with work underway to determine other stations along the route.
Connecting the Parramatta and Sydney central business districts, the project will double the rail capacity between these two areas, linking new communities to rail services and unlocking housing supply and employment growth between the two CBDs.
