MBTA will undertake works to install the federally mandated Positive Train Control (PTC) infrastructure on the Lowell Commuter Rail Line on weekends starting on 5 August and ending on 1 October. Shuttle bus services will replace train services during those weekends.
The first MBTA PTC installation began the weekend of 8 July on the Newburyport/Rockport Commuter Rail Line. The MBTA is acting in compliance with the PTC Implementation Plan required by the Federal Railroad Administration.
