Uralkali, a Russian potassium producer, and UWC signed a contract for the supply of 500 high-performance hopper cars designed to carry mineral fertilizers.
The new cars will be produced by TVSZ and will be delivered next year. The model 19-9835-01 car has an increased carrying capacity and extends overhaul periods.
Uralkali is a largest potassium producers and exporters and company’s production assets include five mines and seven processing plants located in the towns of Berezniki and Solikamsk (Perm Region).
According to UWC, there is a high demand for new generation hopper cars and, since their mass production started few years ago, the company intends to double the production of these specialized cars. Currently, they account for more than 10% of the overall Russian fright car fleet.
