UP invests in Iowa

upUnion Pacific will invest USD 37.5 million to modernise Iowa’s transport infrastructure. Under the plans, USD 30.7 million will be invested to maintain the rail tracks and USD 6.7 million to maintain bridges in the state.
A USD 5 million will be invested on Nevada – Boone line to undercutting 48 km of track. In this process, an undercutter machine cleans rock ballast to remove mud and debris and facilitate proper drainage. AUSD 5 million investment in the rail line between Mechanicsville and Blairstown through south Cedar Rapids to replace nearly 38,000 railroad ties and USD 4.1 million investment in the rail line between Ogden and Carroll to replace more than 22,000 railroad ties.
