Ukrainian railways company Ukrzaliznytsia reported a loss of over UAH 7.9 billion (430 million euros) in 2014. The number of transported passengers dropped by 8.9% compared to 2013 (-440 million passengers). “As in the previous years, a trend of untimely and non-full refunding of railways’ expenses on the transportation of passengers with benefits is seen. Last year services worth UAH 582.3 million (31.7 million euros) were provided to passengers with benefits and only UAH 165.6 million (9 million euros) of compensation was received, or 28%” the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported.
