Metal manufacturers have asked Ukrzaliznytsia to restart selling rail scrap. According to Ukrmetallurgprom’s letter to Ukrzaliznytsia, in mid-2015 the Ukrainian Railways stopped selling such scrap due to unknown reasons.
“As of September 2015 Ukrzaliznytsia should have stocked 83 thousand tons of scrap. We believe that in 2012-2015 it was also able to procure some 220 thousand tons. Thus now the company should have around 300 thousand tons of scrap”, the Ukrmetallurgprom president Alexander Kalenkov said.
If Ukrzaliznytsia sells 300 thousand tons of accumulated scrap, it will get some 1.1 billion UAH (37.8 million euros).
