The steam train operator West Coast Railway Company (WCRC) has been banned from running its rail services on the UK’s mainline railway by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR). The ORR said it had safety concerns over the West Coast Railway Company.
According to the ORR, following an incident in March 2015 in which a locomotive stopped across a busy main line railway junction, additional incidents leading to safety concerns had occurred, despite WCRC being warned to improve safety. Accordingly, ORR has issued a prohibition notice, which prevents WCRC from operating trains.
