UITP and UN-Habitat, the coordinating agency within the United Nations System, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, to promote and foster the role of urban mobility and public transport in the global achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Entering this MoU, UITP and UN-Habitat will strengthen the cooperation and pursue joint efforts to bring support to urban areas to develop mobility, with a focus on public transport.
“This MoU includes great collaboration projects and capacity building actions to transform our cities into engines of economic growth and development, leaving no one and no place behind. We stand with UN-HABITAT to implement the New Urban Agenda in order to advance the SDGs,” Dionisio Gonzalez, UITP Director of Advocacy and Outreach, said.
Both organisations have agreed to collaborate on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
UN-Habitat, the United Nations Human Settlement Programme, and UITP will jointly collaborate on advisory services, peer review, trainings and market dialogues to support sustainable urban mobility.
