„The aim is to have one single “Future European Railway System”. The idea to set up the Innovation Alliance South East Europe for Railways was presented in 2014 and the concept was developed to update, link and innovate the transport networks in South Eastern Europe (SEE) with a specific focus on rail, cooperate with and involving all stakeholders”, Dennis Schut, Research Manager at UIC, said when attending the Railway PRO Technologies and Services Forum – “Innovating with smart railway infrastructures”, organized by Railway PRO and Club Feroviar, with the support of the Romanian Railway Industry Association (AIF), in Buzău (Romania), between February 24 – 25.
The SEESARI PPP (South East Europe Alliance for Rail Innovation) project was initiated in order to identify the needs and priorities and to develop and implement the innovative solutions for the South East European Railway System as part of the Future European Railway System.
Rail system infrastructure is designed to be intelligent and self-learning. It adopts relevant infrastructure technologies from other sectors.
SEESARI partners believe that there is a need to establish a strong and well connected rail transport system that realises the Europe-wide goal, as set out in Challenge 2050 and the Rail Technical Strategy Europe (RTSE), of an attractive and efficient future European rail system.
„This development would most possibly lead to provision of increased financing conditions for research, innovation and implementation that will help to develop the South Eastern Europe Area”, Schut added.
