California’s Metrolink revealed the first images of Electro-Motive Diesel F125 Spirit locomotive, 20 locomotives being ordered in 2013.
The AC traction locomotive is equipped with Caterpillar C175-20 engine, with VRV high-speed running gear and inverter-controlled head-end power and the bodyshell was design for EMD by Vossloh Rail Vehicles.
Through this order, Metrolink is the first US rail operator with rail units compliant with the Tier 4 emissions standards. The locomotive will allow a 85% reduction in emissions compared with older Tier 0 diesel locomotives.
