Central PKK and Tver Carriage Works signed the contract for the supply of 15 seven-car EG2Tv Oriole EMUs. The contract has a value of RUB 10.9 billion (EUR 165.84 million).
These new Oriole trains will be put into commercial operation on Moscow Central Diameters (MDC) in the third quarter of 2019.
The trains will be equipped with modern climate system, video monitoring system, Wi-Fi and USB sockets and will have special places for people with disabilities, for bicycles and luggage racks above the seats. They will provide the highest level of comfort and safety of passengers.
The design of electric trains will be updated, as the trains’ exterior and interior will be changed.
At the beginning of October, TVZ has won the second tender for the supply of electric trains to serve Moscow Central Diameters. Under the tender, Ural Locomotives and TVZ were the two companies that submitted their offers. Transmashholding says that the second participant’s offer was rejected due to the discrepancy of the tender documentation and the high costs.
The first two Moscow Central Diameters will be completed in late 2019, and within three-four years, the capital will launch new lines.
The first MCD will connect the suburban cities of Odintsovo and Lobnya and the second one will offer rail transport connection between Nakhabino and Podolsk.
