Turkey has manufactured its first own electric locomotive, the result of a close collaboration of local industry.
Manufactured with local and national resources, Turkey’s first main electric locomotives are TSE (Turkey Standard) certified according to the turasas.gov.tr website.
It is a new generation locomotive with a minimum power of 5000 kW, AC-AC drive system, TSI certification and a speed of 140 km/h. Traction system, TKYS, Transformer, APU, Converter Unit are designed and produced as a high percentage of local and national.
Own electric locomotive
Carriage, bogies, train control and management systems, traction converter, transformer, auxiliary power unit are all manufactured in Turkey.
In addition, the E5000 is equipped with the most powerful Turkish electric motor for rail vehicles. Turkey plans to produce 500 locomotives in the next 10 years.
