Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, a province situated on the Marmara Sea coast, plans to start the construction of a new metro line in the Gebze-Darıca region, two districts of the Kocaeli province.
According to the preliminary projects of the Gebze-Darıca Metro Line, the line will start from the coast of Darıca and extending to the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone. The new line will have approximately 15 km and 12 stations. It is planned to complete the final procedures for the implementation of the project at the end of 2017.
The feasibility studies have been completed and approved by the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments (AYGM). The construction phase of the Gebze-Darıca Metro Line, which is planned to be integrated into the city centers, public institutions, OIZs, marine transport and Marmaray line, is planned to start in 2018.
