Transnet has delivered 45 wagons to Swaziland, and in May the company will supply another 45 wagons to conclude the full deal of 90 wagons for Swaziland Railways.
The wagons were manufactured at Transnet plants in Germiston and Bloemfontein. Transnet Engineering had the capacity to manufacture 4,500 wagons a year.
“The wagons would be used to import diesel and petrol while the container wagons would be put to use transporting exports of timber, fridges and textiles and imports of materials for the textile and food and beverages industries,” Swaziland Railways CEO Stephenson Ngubane said.
