Transmashholding and the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran signed the contract for the manufacture of 500 wagons in Iran.
“The contract stipulates an attracting investment and using up-to-date technology in the domestic manufacture of freight and passenger cars. In the first phase, only passenger cars will be produced,” Fardad Daliri, the deputy director for expansion of industrial investment at IDRO said.
In March 2017, the two sides agreed to build railway wagons in Iran, with Russian side to finance the production.
Russia and Iran have strengthen the collaboration in railway transport, as two months ago, they signed a EUR 1.2 billion contrac for the electrification of the Garmsar – Inche Bouroun railway line.
