Folloowing an international tender, Transdev won a six-year contract with an option for 5 additional years to operate and maintain Dublin’s light rail network, Luas.
The Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contract was awarded following an international tender process and will come into force on December 1, 2019.
The choice of Transdev to both operate and maintain Luas network reflects the group’s partnership and active collaboration with Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the National Transport Authority.
The new Transdev fully integrated network management approach will deliver ever greater long-term success through a rigorous focus on both tram performance and customer service.
Dublin Luas tram network comprises two lines with a total length of 44.5 km served by 67 stations. The Red Line, running from Tallaght to The Point and from Saggart to Connolly, is 20 km in length and has 32 stops. The Green Line, linking Brides Glen and Broombridge has a 24.5 length and 35 stops. The network is operated by 73 tramways manufactured by Alstom in La Rochelle factory.
In December 2017, transport services were launched on Luas Green Line extension from St. Stephen’s Green to Broombridge, incorporating 13 new stations and providing integration with the Luas Red Line as well as bus and rail services.
