Transdev announced that its division CFTA (Société générale de chemins de fer et de transports automobiles) obtained in March the rail safety certificate to operate trains in the French rail passengers network. “Transdev is now able to operate on regional lines as soon as the law allows the opening of competition”, said the company in a press release.
Transdev plans to participate in the tenders organised starting with 2019 for passenger public transport, the company added. The group has already announced it was interested in exploiting the future CDG Express railway connecting Paris to Charles-de-Gaulle Airport, a contract for which it will compete with Keolis and Ratp Dev. consortium. Transdev is 70% owned by Caisse des dépôts and 30% by Veolia.
Transdev is an international rail public transport operator based in France with notable presence in Germany, Sweden and New Zealand and carries over 150 million passengers every year. The company has operations in 19 countries. Its turnover in 2016 amounted to EUR 6.7 billion turnover.
