This happened after a freight train car derailed near a station in Florence. This has led to gridlocked traffic between Florence and Bologna, affecting connections between the north and south of the country, according to ANSA news agency. In the derailment, the wagon hit some poles of the cables that supply trains with electricity. There was damage but no one was injured, the rail network said. As a result, services are subject to cancellation, delays of up to two to three hours and re-routing.
