The head of Federal Rail Transport Certification Registry Alexander Komissarov handed over to, the technical director of TMH plant in Tver Aleksey Moguchev the Certificate of Conformity to Technical Regulations of the Customs Union for the double-deck restaurant coach Model 61-4525.
The certificate allows unrestricted operation of these coaches in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, and Armenia, part of the Customs Union.
The new restaurant coach is based on a comprehensive analysis of the operating experience of the previous model (61-4473), manufactured in 2013, and is designed to complement the new lineup of double-deck coaches of Model 61-4523 and Model 61-4524.
It will be manufactured for the Russian national passenger rail operator Federal Passenger Company under the framework contract, signed in 2019, for the supply of 3730 rail cars of various types to be delivered until 2025.
The new coach is built around the upgraded body frame, which enabled a wider useable area on the second floor. The pneumatic suspension, in turn, allows for a smoother ride.
The first floor of the double-deck restaurant coach contains a kitchen, a washing station, and a 4-seat bar, while the second floor offers a 36-seat dining area. For the first time, passengers will be able to buy tickets to travel specifically in this area of the coach. To accommodate the travel, luggage shelves and an oversized luggage stack are located in the area.
“The new restaurant coach is our new step in the field of machine engineering. It was created in a close cooperation with Federal Passenger Company and in observance of the new concept of on-the-train food service. It significantly surpasses its predecessor. We expect to ship this coach to Federal Passenger Company in a short time and start the batch production in the next year,” Aleksey Moguchev, the technical director of TVZ said.
Since activation of the technical regulations of the Customs Union in Rail Transport, the Certification Registry granted TMH through its plant in Tver over 90 certificates of conformity and registered over 30 declarations.
