Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) associate members agreed to increase the transit volume on the route to 4 million tonnes by the end of this year. This includes a container traffic of 15,000 TEU (or 75,000 tonnes).
“Along with the growing cargo traffic of multimodal transportations by TITR, it is necessary to monitor and identify potentially bottlenecks with the purpose of advance modernization and expansion of the existing infrastructure,” Kanat Alpysbaev, the head of Kazakhstan Railways said.
During a recently meeting of the TITR countries, the tariff rates of TITR for 2018 were approved, taking into account the new railway line Baku-Tbilisi-Kars. Also, it was discussed about the importance of the initiative of the Turkish State Railways on joining the TITR Association.
