Rail Baltic Estonia announced three winners of RB Ülemiste joint-terminal architectural competition.
The negotiations will soon start with:
Zaha Hadid Architects and OÜ Esplan’s – Light Stream
Innopolis Insenerid – The Ülemiste Leaf;
DBA Progetti S.p.A. and HML Project Management OÜ – Videvik.
“Within the next days, we will be in talks with the authors of three very different architectural ideas to find out who will design the new RB Ülemiste terminal,” Riia Sillave, CEO of RB Estonia, said.
An exhibition of the designs was opened in Tallinn Airport gallery.
The total prize fund for the design competition is EUR 77,000.
Totaling a 10-ha surface, the terminal will be located in Lasnamäe, the largest district of Tallinn.
As the starting and terminating station of Rail Baltica, Ülemiste terminal should be architecturally recognisable in comparison with other stops on the route. “Functionality, comfort and modern” are the features of the new terminal, providing fast and easy transfers.
“The area will become one of the most attractive and synergic in terms of infrastructure in Tallinn. A true multimodal transport center is emerging, with rail, bus and air traffic coming together in the future,” said Taavi Aas, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure.
In May Rail Baltic Estonia announced the international design competition to find the most suitable architectural solution for the Ülemiste terminal.
