Three bids have been received for the tender launched by Rigas Satiksme for the acquisition of 20 low-floor trams. The company seeks to buy fifteen three-section and five four-section articulated low-floor trams in total. 22 potential bidders voiced interest in the tender before its rules were announced, according to Rigas Satiksme representative Viktors Zakis. The deadline for the first round of the tender was set for 15 October.
Rigas Satiksme will review all candidates and the approved ones will be invited to prepare a technical and financial offer for the manufacture and supply of the trams. A round of negotiations will follow, after which a winner will be announced. The new trams could be put into service in the latter half of 2016.
