The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announced the invitation for prequalification for a rail infrastructure project in Macedonia, involving Rail Corridor VIII. The project represents the second phase for the rehabilitation of Railway Corridor VIII, eastern part, connecting Macedonia with Bulgaria.
Macedonian Railways Infrastructure Skopje intends prequalifying firms and consortia to tender for the Beljakovce – Kriva Palanka section.
The project envisages the construction of new and the completion of remaining (pre-existing) works for a single-track railway line between Beljakovce and Kriva Palanka, from km 30+957.00 to km 64+942.01, which a total length of 34 km.
The contract includes works on permanent way including railway superstructure and substructure, railway stations and halts, station and service buildings, earthworks, excavation of cuts and the formation of embankments, local road network, construction of railway bridges and tunnels, road overpasses and underpasses, culverts, retaining walls and other works, according to the design which is prepared by the rail infrastructure manager.
