Tender awarded for new Foggia-Cervaro AV stop

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) announces that the tender for the executive design and construction of the new Foggia-Cervaro high-speed station has been awarded.

The activation of the station, located in the south-eastern area of the city, will allow high-speed trains to and from Rome, Naples and Bari to serve the Daunia capital without having to make entry/exit movements at the current Foggia station, effectively reducing travel times and at the same time increasing accessibility to the railway system.

Access to the stop will be via a new project road network that will connect to the existing road network via: connections with the urban and extra-urban road network, the connection with the urban TPL system, and integration with regional railway services towards the main destinations in the province of Foggia (Lucera, San Severo) and Basilicata (Potenza, Melfi).

The new stop, included in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PUMS) of the city of Foggia, will also be equipped with a rail-road interchange parking lot for a total of 306 parking spaces, including 6 for people with reduced mobility, a kiss&ride area, 16 bicycle spaces, 16 motorcycle spaces, two bus/BRT stop spaces and a bus terminal for parking.

The project for the new Foggia AV stop includes the construction of platforms to the sides of the two tracks, equipped with shelters, a passenger building and a cycle/pedestrian underpass.

“We are pleased to learn of the FS Group’s announcement that the integrated tender for the executive design and construction of the new Foggia – Cervaro AV stop has been awarded,” said Maria Aida Episcopo, mayor of Foggia.

The total investment is approximately  EUR 47.2 million.
