Tashkent Metro intends to build a 50 kilometers line

The construction work for the Sergeli Line of the Tashkent Metro, with a length of 7.1 km, should be completed by 2020, according to a report published on the website of Uzbekistan Railways (Uzbekiston Temir Yullari).  The total cost of the construction project of Sergeli line, which will operate six stations, is USD 170.1 million. The stations are built to accomodate 4-car metro trains.

The report also speaks about the construction of the second stage of the Yunusabad line with a total length of 2.93 km. The project is estimated at USD 124.8 million. The completion of the construction is planned by 2019. „The third project envisages an aboveground metro line, the total length of which is 52.1 km. The average speed will be 60 km/h and the mileage along the entire line  will be 1 hour and 10 minutes”, Oybek Khudoikulov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Railways, the head of „Toshkent Metro” subsidiary. Khudoyqulov said that work is underway on the construction of the Sergeli and Yunusabad lines, as well as the metro ring line in the capital city.

According to the report, in the first place, 8 stations will be built from the station “Dustlik” to the Dekhkan market of Kuilyuk. It is also planned to build additional two metro depots. The project, which is planned for 2017-2021, consists of five stages. According to the plan, 35 metro stations will be built through the districts of Yashnobod, Uchtepa, Olmazor, Yunusabad, Chilanzar and Sergeli.
