SŽDC has launched the reconstruction works at Řetenice railway station, situated on the line Ústí nad Labem -Chomutov. The works also include adaptations of connecting line sections between stations in direction to Teplice v Čechách, Oldřichov u Duchcova and Úpořiny.
The value of the contract is EUR 36.9 million (CZK 945 million), signed with Společnost ChT + EŽ Řetenice, consisting of the companies Chládek & Tintěra and Elektrizace železnic Praha.
During the next 15 months, the railway superstructure and substructure, the catenary and artificial construction such as bridges, culverts and supporting walls are going to be reconstructed. The station will also be equipeed with new signalling system and safety equipment which will allow implementing the ETCS system in the future.
A new centre platform 120 metres long and an external platform 50 metres long will be built at Řetenice Station. Access to the newly built platforms will be enabled by the current footbridge completed by a staircase leading to the centre platform and by two lifts. At the same time, a new technological structure will be built on the site of the former rolling stock services building.
The construction is scheduled to be completed in May 2020.
Besides shorter journey times, the project will offer higher passenger safety by building grade-separated platforms with barrier-free access.
