Czech railway infrastructure manager, SŽDC, has launched modernisation works on the on the line between Oldřichov u Duchcova and Bílina, a project with a total value of CZK 1.9 billion (EUR 73.7 million). After works will be completed, trains will be able to run at speeds of 140 km/h.
Works will include adaptations of tracks at the whole Oldřichov u Duchcova Station, on the section leading to the Duchcov welding shop, on the connection of branching lines to Litvínov and the Teplice lesní brána stop and on the double-track line section Oldřichov u Duchcova – Bílina.
Due to the reconstruction at Oldřichov u Duchcova Station, platforms will be relocated to the trackage part in direction to Bílina for better comfort of passengers. A new railway stop at Jeníkov-Oldřichov and a new underpass will be constructed. The Duchcov railway stop will undergo significant changes as well.
The project also includes new signalling equipment, a new catenary, lighting, electrical heating of switch points, building platforms at a standard height of 550 millimetres above the rail and ensuring barrier-free access at reconstructed railway stops.
The construction works at Kadaň-Prunéřov – Kadaň, modernization of Řetenice Station and the line Oldřichov u Duchcova – Litvínov are already being implemented.
