The European Investment Bank has under appraisal a EUR 28 million funding for tram system modernisation in Szczecin.
The total cost of the project is EUR 73 million and envisages the reconstruction of 13 km of tram tracks across the entire city. The project also includes the refurbishment of the Golecin tram depot and three substations (Kolumba, Chmilewskiego and Kaszubska).
To modernise its tramway system, the city has implemented a EUR 64.18 million project which received EUR 41.74 million funding from the Cohesion Fund. The city’s project included the redeveloped of 10 km of tracks in the west, the construction of a 600-m branch, including the upgrading and extension of overhead contact lines and light signalling boxes.
The tram network in Szczecin has a total length of 110 km, of which 64 km of tracks, and is used by 12 tram lines connecting 90 stops.
