Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) has received a design and manufacture contract for traction motors by Stadler Rail for its prestigious Caltrain project in Silicon Valley. The project will provide new trains to run from the San Francisco Bay Area into the Silicon Valley as part of the Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project (PCEP). The trains are scheduled to run by the end of 2019.
The equipment to be supplied by Traktionssysteme Austria will meet the Buy America provisions and be used on the 16 double-decker EMUs developed by Stadler Rail. This contract marks the successful continuation of TSA’s engagement to the North American markets, which is being led by Traction Systems Inc. (TSA’s 100% US subsidiary based in Somerville, NJ).
