SPITZKE has signed a contract with Vossloh Rolling Stock, a subsidiary of the Chinese corporation CRRC, for the delivery of 10 DE18 locomotives. The DE 18 diesel locomotives will enter service from summer 2025 to the end of 2025.
The DE 18 Stage V locomotives, which are to be delivered from summer 2025, will be used by the SPITZKE subsidiary, SLG SPITZKE LOGISTIK GmbH, where they will play a central role in domestic supply traffic for SPITZKE construction projects and in the realisation of transport services for SLG’s customers in the industry.
Within the SPITZKE Group, SLG SPITZKE LOGISTIK GmbH is a European rail transport company, logistics service provider and specialist waste disposal company and handles both the logistics of railway construction sites and transport by rail.

The DE18 can run on biofuel
The DE18 locomotives are certified to run on biofuel derived from hydrotreated vegetable oils (HVO), which is an alternative to traditional diesel fuel. No modifications to the locomotive equipment are required to use this type of fuel.
Using HVO significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions—by up to 90%—and also lowers the amount of unburned particulate matter in the exhaust gases.

The battery system boasts the latest lithium-ion technology and is integrated into the space constructed for the auxiliary fuel tank without any complicated interconnectivity with the diesel engine.
As the eco-friendly option, the plug-in traction battery can be charged overnight using an external 400 V 3AC power supply, or else directly from the diesel engine when it’s operating at optimum performance levels.
Depending on how it’s used, the battery has a service life between eight and ten years or more than 3,000 charge cycles.
