Spanish investors, interested in Belgrade metro project

Belgrade metro project is estimated at over EUR 3 billion. The Spanish Ambassador in Serbia, Miguel Fuertes Suarez, said several investors from his country expressed interest to participate in this project which consists in the construction of a first metro network in the Serbian capital.
The declaration was made during a reunion of the Spanish official with Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojicic. According to Belgrade municipality, the two countries could collaborate to develop this project, the experience of the smart cities of Madrid and Barcelona being very useful.
Recently, French urban environment design company, Egis, announced that it will complete the design for the first line of the future metro network in April 2019.
Last week, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic announced that the first line of the metro network is estimated at EUR 1.3 billion, while the cost for the whole network (which includes two metro lines) will reach EUR 3 billion.
The first metro railway will be 22-km long, while the second will be 20-km long. The metro transport system will also include four suburban transport railways.
