The Sofia metro extension of the Red Line to Business Park will open for passengers on 8 May, according to Stoyan Bratoev, director of the metro system, Novinite reports.
The cost of the two new extensions of the Red Line amounts to a combined 119 million euros in EU funding. The extentions are to the Business Park in the south-eastern part of the city, and to the international airport in the north-eastern part.
The average price of one kilometer of the underground sections of the two extensions is 17 million euros, while a kilometer of the surface sections costs 11.4 million euros.
Empty metro trains are already tested on the other extension to the airport.
