At the beginning of December, Sofia Metro and Metrovagonmash signed a contract for repair and upgrade of 8 cars (two 4-car trains) with an option for additional 40 cars.
Under the contract, Metrovagonmash will develop detailed technical projects for the repair and modernisation of metro trains.
The modernized cars will be delivered in 2019.
In 2013, Metrowagonmash and Sofia Metro have signed a contract for the supply 10 Rusich three-car metro trains (30 cars), all of them being delivered in the same year. The cars are equipped with Hitachi asynchronous traction system.
Metrovagonmash and Sofia Metro collaborates since 1998. Currently, Sofia’s metro fleet provided by the Russian company is formed by 150 cars. All of them are manufactured at the Metrovagonmash plant.
