Škoda Transportation has established a new US subsidiary as part of a planned expansion into North America. ”The establishment of United States subsidiary is the logical result of our strategy direction to Western markets. Currently we map our options and select appropriate projects to large and growing North American market. I believe that we have a great chance to succeed not only in the US but also in Canada,” says Thomas Ignačák, Chairman of the Board of Škoda Transportation.
„Our goal is to create a full-fledged US base consisting of business development, technical department, purchasing and project management through to production. Establishment of Škoda Transportation USA is the first step in a planned expansion into the North American market,” says Scott H. Ellis, Director of Business Development Škoda Transportation USA .
Besides the two subsidiaries in Hungary and Germany, Škoda Transportation inaugurated in 2015 another subsidiary in Finland, when bought a controlling stake in the company Transtech. It is the only Finnish manufacturer of railway and urban rail vehicles. Škoda Transportation thus gained access to the markets of Northern Europe.
