Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) and operator SMRT have announced plans to procure 29 new trains by 2019 to increase capacity on the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL). The new vehicles will add to 41 trains procured in March 2013 for Singapore’s urban rail network, of which 13 have already been delivered and a further 28 will arrive between 2016 and 2017.
