Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) awarded China Railway 11 Bureau Group a USD 154.4 million (SGD 210 million) contract to design and construct Jurong West and Bahar Junction stations and their associated viaducts for the Jurong Region Line (JRL). The two stations will be linked by a 1.15 viaduct system.
The Jurong West station, located along Jurong West Avenue 2, will feature a single island platform serving trains for both the Choa Chu Kang-bound and Jurong Pier-bound directions. The station will reduce the travel time by 25 minutes from Boon Lay Ave to NTU Gateway.
The Bahar Junction station will feature two platforms connected by a 100-metre covered link bridge equipped with travellators. One platform will serve trains heading to Choa Chu Kang and Jurong Pier while the other platform will serve trains heading to Peng Kang Hill. This station will reduce the travel time by 20 minutes from NTU NIE Building to Bahar Junction Estate.
The construction works for these two stations are expected to start in 2020 and are scheduled for completion in 2026.
