Sighișoara Tunnel and Daneș Tunnel are new objectives, part of Sighişoara – Aţel section, part of the CF Coşlariu – Sighişoara line rehabilitation project. The tunnels are 91% and 70% respectively, completed.
On 7 April, Romanian Minister of Transport, Dan Costescu, and CFR SA General Manager, Marius Chiper, visited the railway sites opened on Sighişoara – Coşlariu segment, as well as Râmnicu Vâlcea Station.
The two bridges over Târnava River have also been inspected. The bridges are 280m long and have been each 90% completed.
Copșa Mică Station is also part of the CF Coşlariu – Sighişoara line rehabilitation project. The station is currently 65% completed. The Minister of Transport also visited Râmnicu Vâlcea Station where the recently built passenger-dedicated building is 95% completed.
“These are modern technologies. We might not realise but this is happening again in Romania after 50 years. This is very important for Romania, the infrastructure develops and we could soon enjoy a decent journey from one country end to another”, said Minister Dan Costescu during the site visit. The minister also added that rolling stock upgrade was considered, namely locomotives and cars, as well as railway stations.
