Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a company under the Administrative control of India’s Ministry of Railways, awarded the consortium of Siemens Limited India and Siemens Mobility GmbH a signalling and telecommunication contract for Kolkata Metro Line 3 and 6.
The consortium will deliver and install the CBTC solution that will facilitate 100% punctuality, maximum network capacity, energy savings and decreased headways while ensuring highest possible safety.
The signalling and telecommunication system will be installed on the 32 km Kavi Subhash-Biman Bandar metro line and on the 16 km line between Joka and Esplanade.

Siemens is also engaged in electrification works for Kolkata Metro Line 3 and 6. Previously, the company has equipped Kolkata Metro’s North-South corridor and East-West line with TPWS signaling and rail electrification systems, respectively.
