Siemens Mobility and DB Cargo signed a contract for the delivery of 100 multisystem locomotives, with an initial call for 40 Vectron multisystem locomotives. Delivery of the locomotives will begin in February 2019 and be completed by June 2020.
The locomotives are planned for cross-border transport in several European countries.
The locomotives ordered by DB Cargo have a maximum output of 6.4 megawatts and a top speed of 160 km/h and are equipped with the required national train control systems as well as the European Train Control System (ETCS).
“DB Cargo had ordered 60 locomotives from us in the summer of 2017. The signing of a new framework agreement confirms the successful completion of that project and the reliability of our locomotives,” said Sabrina Soussan, CEO of Siemens Mobility.
With Siemens Mobility, DB Cargo is also carrying out an important digitalization project. Last year, the German company awarded Siemens Mobility to equip 30,000 freight cars with CTmobile freight sensor solution. The contract includes an option to equip up to 50,000 freight cars.
