EUR 12 million from European Union are available for Serbia by mid-2017 that will support the preparation of documentation for priority projects, it was said at the session of the National Board for Investments.
Jadranka Joksimovic, the national coordinator of IPA funds and developmental donor aid, emphasized the need to harmonize the funds available through various instruments, EU above all, with the national budget in order to best utilize the available funds.
Projects in the fields of transport, energy, environment and business infrastructure whose realisation is planned as soon as possible were also discussed at the session.
Among discussed projects were the modernisation and reconstruction of Nis-Dimitrovgrad and Nis-Presevo railway lines and the construction of an intermodal terminal in Batajnica.
Under IPA II, the funding allocation for 2014–20 is EUR 1.5 billion and for transport sector the priorities are the harmonisation with transport acquis, better infrastructure and regional connectivity, increased intermodal transport and better navigation conditions in inland waterways.
