The delivery of 27 Russian diesel-powered trains will be completed in 2017, Mansurbek Sultanov, an executive at RZD’s subsidiary RZD International, said. Ten Russian diesel-powered trains have already been delivered to Serbia, while the remaining 17 will arrive by early 2017.
The trains are air-conditioned, can board 246 passengers and develop speeds of up to 120 kph. The procurement, worth USD 100 million, has been agreed with Russia’s Metrowagonmash and is financed through an USD 800 million Russian loan for Serbia’s railway modernization projects.
