United Wagon Company and Sberbank Leasing signed an agreement for the supply of 50 flat cars for the transport of timber.
The new cars will be delivered in October 2019, joining the fleet of the Lesresurs-RusForest group of companies, which is engaged in lumber production.
The new generation flat car is designed to transport timber from 3 to 13 meters long. The car’s payload capacity is 74 tonnes, its loading volume is 122 m3, and the loading length is 40 feet, which allows additional transport of up to 10 m3 of freight compared to standard models.
Thanks to the current tariff system for transport on specialized platforms and the technical characteristics of the car, the average cost of transport of 1 tonne of freight is reduced in direct proportion to the increase in payload capacity. The operation of such cars reduces the owner’s fleet size requirements and increases its turnover, significantly reducing the cost of transport and expenses on servicing rolling stock.
The new flat cares will be manufactured at TikhvinSpetsMash plant, where more than 1,600 flat cars of this model have been commissioned.
