São Paulo Line 13-Jade will be extended

The São Paulo Government announces the expansion of Line 13-Jade. There will be an additional 15 km of extension and 6 new stations, ensuring greater fluidity and comfort for passengers between the metropolitan region and the capital

Expansion of Line 13-Jade will connect Guarulhos to downtown São Paulo.

With an expansion of approximately 15 km, Line 13-Jade of metropolitan trains will be the branch with the largest investment in the Alto Tietê Lote concession, which also includes lines 11-Coral and 12-Safira . The estimated value, for Line 13 alone, is BRL 2.5 billion (USD 440 million).

Today, the line operates between Guarulhos International Airport and Engenheiro Goulart station. With the public-private partnership (PPP), there will be an expansion towards Guarulhos to Bonsucesso with four new stations: Jardim dos Eucaliptos, São João, Jardim Presidente Dutra and Bonsucesso. This is one of the most populated areas of the city. In the direction of the city center, there will be two new stations: Cangaíba and Gabriela Mistral.

“The future Cangaíba and Gabriela Mistral stations are important because, in addition to connecting Line 13-Jade with Line 12-Safira, they will connect the Bonsucesso region to the Metro’s Line 2-Green, which will be expanded from Vila Prudente to Penha, and from Penha to Dutra, in Guarulhos, passing through Gabriela Mistral. Therefore, these investments are very relevant and will improve the daily commute of people who are currently not served by trains,” explained Augusto Almudin, Director of Corporate Affairs at Companhia Paulista de Parcerias (CPP).

Currently, CPTM Line 13-Jade operates in the Guarulhos region with approximately 20-minute intervals between trains. With the concession, this time will be reduced to 15 minutes. The Expresso Aeroporto service, which currently operates hourly, will now operate every 30 minutes.

PPI-SP: Lines 11, 12 and 13

The São Paulo State Investment Partnership Program (PPI-SP) has qualified urban train lines 11, 12 and 13 to be granted to the private sector . The scope includes, for example, the extension of Line 13-Jade to Parque da Mooca and Bonsucesso and the construction of ten new stations, adaptation and reconstruction of existing ones, in addition to the requalification of infrastructure and systems.

The project has a social purpose, serving the East Zone, a region with a large transportation deficit in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, which has more than 4.6 million inhabitants, who commute, that is, who travel to other cities to work or study.
