By 2025, Russian Railways will invest RUB 150 billion (USD 2.3 billion) in digitalization development, company’s CEO, Oleg Belozerov, announced.
The company intends to deploy new technologies which should increase the electronically booking for freight traffic to 75% and electronic tickets for long-distance trains to 70%, by 2025.
Currently on rail freight transport, RZD is implementing the electronic marketplace Freight Traffic, the State-Owned Electronic Trading Platform, on which over 3,200 participants are now registered.
In passenger segment, RZD is implementing the “Innovative Mobility” project which combines a variety of electronic services for passengers from planning and supporting door-to-door journeys, booking and purchasing all types of tickets for organising multi-modal travel to other additional services. The development of this project will enable the company to offer passengers the possibility of processing a single transport document in the future, when the appropriate legal basis is ready, Belozerov explained.
