Russian company RZD will ask for additional funds from the government in 2016 to close the budget gap, according to “Kommersant”. According to the company’s preliminary calculations, it may need 70-75 billion rubles (1.2-1.3 billion euros) in addition to the subsidies for transit and long-distance transportation. The budget deficit will be due to the decrease in freight transport and to insufficient tariff increase to cover the inflation. The Ministry of Economy expects the inflation in 2015 to attain 11.6%, while the railway tariff is to be increase by only 7.5% in 2016.
