RZD will decrease its Lastochka EMU train acquisition plan from 30 to 23 this year, because the price of the trains rose and the company has a limited budget for its rolling stock acquisitions. The remaining 7 trains will be postponed for later years.
The Lastochka trains are built at the Ural Locomotives, a joint venture of Siemens and Sinara Group. The company is to increase localization of production to 80% in 2017 and has already reported that it is going ahead of the schedule.
