Russian Railways expects the delivery of 1 million tons of rails, supplied by domestic manufacturers. Thus, Evraz plans to deliver 700,000 tons of rails and Mechel 300,000 tons.
These rails will be used for the new construction as well as tracks repair projects.
This year, the company will purchase 520 thousand tons of rails, including 300 thousand tons from Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (part of Mechel) and 220 thousand producted by Evraz.
In 2016, RZD has acquired 947.7 thousand tons of rails from the same companies.
